South Africa’s coldest towns experience icy start to week

Sutherland tops list at -7.2C, while Underberg in KZN records -6.1C on Monday morning.

The official start to winter has brought with it some beautiful, sunny and crisp weather across the country, but the clear skies mean cold nights.

This was evident in Monday morning’s icy temperatures in various towns across the country, as reported by AfriWx on Facebook.

Once again the coldest town in KZN, and a full three degrees nippier than on Saturday morning, Underberg recorded an icy -6.1 degrees Celsius this morning.

Topping the charts of South Africa’s coldest towns is Sutherland at -7.2C, with Underberg the country’s second-coldest town.

In third place at -3.1C was Aliwal North, followed by Van Reenen at -3C, Frankfort at -2.8C, Bethlehem at -2.7, Excelsior Ceres at -2.6 and Ficksburg at -2.3C.
