Voices of the Soul International Spanish Poetry Festival, May 31 in Lynnwood

LYNNWOOD—The WAGRO Foundation proudly announces the first International Spanish Poetry Festival: Voces del Alma (Voices of the Soul), a dynamic celebration of Latin American literature, music, and art to be held on Wednesday, May 31st, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM at the Lynnwood Library. This FREE, all-ages event will spotlight the voices of Spanish-speaking poets and artists from across the Americas.

International Spanish Poetry Festival

At the heart of the festival is the highly anticipated launch of the new anthology:

Se escribe en español: Una antología poética del Puget Sound (Written in Spanish: A Poetic Anthology of the Puget Sound). The anthologyIt is the result of a year-long poetry workshop that brings together poems written in Spanish by a diverse group of migrants and refugees who have used poetic expression to work toward emotional wellness.

Festival Highlights Include:

Latino Poets Panel / Lectura de Poetas Latinoamericanos

  • Featuring readings by renowned poets:
  • Blanca Vázquez (Mexico)
  • David Cruz (Costa Rica)
  • Mario Martz (Nicaragua)
  • Noé Álvarez (United States/Mexico)
  • Gabriela Adamo (Argentina)
  • Francisco Robles (Chile)

Live Performances & Interactive Art

  • Orquesta Northwest, conducted by Paula Madrigal
  • Latin American children’s music by Marco Cortés
  • Visual art workshop led by Maria Casey
  • Cultural exhibit and traditional food
  • Community Open Mic – Share your voice in poetry, music, or storytelling!
