The week is set to get off to a wet start as the Meteorological Service of Jamaica is forecasting that the island, over the next few days, is expected to see an increase in cloudy conditions with showers and thunderstorms.

This is likely welcome news for some residents, farmers included, who have been experiencing water challenges due to ongoing drought conditions impacting the country.

In its 5am forecast on Sunday, April 28, 2024, the Met Service said this is due to a trough now across Jamaica that is expected to remain across the region over the next few days.

The unstable weather conditions are especially expected during the afternoon across sections of most parishes.

Check out the forecast below:

24-hour forecast

  • This Morning… Isolated showers across northeastern parishes otherwise, partly cloudy.
  • This Afternoon… Becoming cloudy with showers and thunderstorms likely across sections of southern parishes and hilly areas. Windy across northern parishes.
  • Tonight… Isolated showers across northeastern parishes, partly cloudy elsewhere.

Maximum temperature expected for Kingston today… 33 degrees Celsius.
Maximum temperature expected for Montego Bay today… 33 degrees Celsius.

3-day forecast (starting Monday)

  • Monday: Isolated morning showers across northeastern parishes, otherwise partly cloudy. Afternoon showers and likely thunderstorms across sections of northern parishes and hilly areas.
  • Tuesday & Wednesday: Widely scattered afternoon showers and likely thunderstorms across sections of most parishes.
